Brief description:  A small forested campground adjacent to one of the “fingers” along Lake Shasta in the “O’Brien area.  It is a very popular campground for boaters, especially when the lake is high, reservations recommended.


Open Dates:  March - October

Number of Campsites:  9   Maximum spur:  30 feet


Length of Stay:  14 days

Fees:  $20 per night for single space, (1 vehicle up to 8 persons)

Location/Directions:  Approximately 19 miles north of Redding.  From Interstate 5 past the Pitt River Bridge that crosses Shasta Lake take Exit 695 at the O’Brien Shasta Caverns Road.  Turn right and travel down the hill, travel about ½ mile and turn right on Bailey Cove Road when you see the campground sign shown at the top of the page.

General Description:  A nice forested campground with tables and fire rings as well as bear proof food storage lockers.  The campground has paved parking areas for camp trailers and RV’s.  Campground host is available during the summer.  Near the Bailey Cove boat ramp and Bailey Cove marina.  Wildlife in the area as well as osprey nests in view.  Poison oak in area.  No hookups or sanitary station for RV’s or trailers.

Nearby Services:  (groceries, medical, etc.)  Full services in Redding, approximately 19 – 20 miles to the south.  Some services (fuel, food) at Lakehead a few miles to the north.
