Castle Crags State Park




California State Park with both camping and day use.  RV’s, trailers, tent, bike & hike camps.


Open Dates:  Open year round, weather permitting, and in winter confirm availability before arrival if snow conditions are expected.  The Riverside camping area is not open year round, and closes September 30.

Reservations:  You may make camping reservations up to seven months and no less than 48 hours in advance by calling 1-800-444-7275  (TTY 1-800-274-7275).

Number of Campsites:  76 Developed Campsites, some for tents only.   Maximum trailer length:  21 feet, Maximum Camper length:  27 feet  ~ no full hookups for RV's or Trailers

Fees:   Developed Campsites:  $30/night  (drive in)
            Primitive Campsites:  $15/night  (drive in)
            Hike & Bike Campsites:  $5
            Senior Citizens may receive a $2 discount
            *high demand season peak times may have additional rates

Affiliation:  California State Park ~ operated by a concessionaire

General Description:   Nice campground with many amenities.  Forested area with fantastic views of the Crags and Mt. Shasta.  Many hiking trails, riverside access.  Many of the campsites parallel Interstate 5 and traffic noises can be heard.  Bears may frequent the area.  Dogs are allowed but must be on leash or in vehicle or tent at night.

Nearby Services:  (groceries, medical, etc.)  Closest services in Castella, California:  fuel, some groceries, post office.  Town of Dunsmuir (6 miles) most other services are available.  Nearest full service Medical Services in Mt. Shasta City (15 miles)  or Redding, California (50 miles).
