County Park Campground ~ Applegate Area

Brief description:  A shaded county campground near the Applegate River, with day use area, river access, hiking.

Open Dates:  Open May to October  (Dates may vary due to weather)

Number of Campsites:  30 sites, both RV and tent Basic sites.  One Tent group site.  No hookups of any kind, but water and restrooms are available.  No RV dump site available.

Length of Stay:  2 weeks

Fees:  $16 per camp site with 1 vehicle.  Additional $6 per vehicle per night.  Showers are coin operated, 50 cents for 4 minutes.

Location/Address:  154 Cantrall Road, Ruch, Oregon

From Interstate 5 at Medford Take Hwy 238 west toward the small town of Jacksonville, Oregon.  Follow Hwy 238 for approximately 15 miles.  Once past the very small village at Ruch, look for the signs to Cantrall Park.  Turn left off of Hwy 238 at Hamilton Road just before the Applegate River.  Follow approximately 1 mile to signs for Cantrall Park.  Cross the one lane bridge over the river, on the left will be the campground area, on the right the day use area.

Elevation:  1500 ft.

General Description:  Campground is located in native laurel and pine trees above the Applegate River.  The day use area is popular in summer with lawns and river access.  The campground is basic, with some areas larger than others.  Suitable for tents, RV’s and trailers.  Large Class C Motor Homes and large 5^th Wheel’s may find difficulty in locating a spot large enough to accommodate, especially in height.  There is a campground host on site.  At last visit good cell reception was available in the campsite.

Nearby Services:  (groceries, medical, etc.)  Groceries and sundries are available in Ruch, just a couple of miles away.  Larger grocery store located in Jacksonville, along with numerous restaurants and shopping.  Full service for all needs located 15 miles in Medford.  Nearest hospital and ER would be Providence Medical Center, 1111 Crater Lake Avenue, Medford, Oregon.
